Lipase – a protein enzyme that digests fats. Lipase – responsible for hydrolysing the ester bonds in the triglycerides, resulting in free fatty acids and 2-acylglycerol.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus – bacteria which support the functioning of the pet’s digestive tract and limit the multiplication of pathogenic bacteria.

Digestion of dogs/cats – what do you need to remember?

Digestive and intestinal problems among dogs/cats can give rise to many different symptoms and disruptions from the digestive system. The easiest and quickest to observe are diarrhoea or constipation. The pet may also experience bloating and foul-smelling gas. With gastrointestinal problems, a significant decrease in appetite can also be observed. The dog/cat may lack energy and be reluctant to move.

Other abnormalities on the part of the digestive system may include disorders in the secretion of digestive enzymes, which occur, for example, in exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Dogs/cats with problems in this area have smelly, greasy stools, are lethargic and underweight, despite having normal appetite.

What should you give your dog/cat for digestive problems?

Digestive problems among dogs/cats may have many causes: parasites, pancreatic diseases, food allergies, poisoning, bacterial and viral infections. In order to help your dog effectively, the source of the problems should be diagnosed and therefore it is necessary to visit a specialist – a veterinarian.

In taking care of the dog’s/cat’s health and supporting its digestive system, we should of course give it properly balanced meals and substances supporting proper nutrition. An important factor is the actual viability of the probiotic strains of bacteria or fungi used and their actual number, which is expressed as the number of live colony-forming units (CFU).
